Stereoregular pendant electroactive polymers with extended pendants via post‐polymerization copper catalyzed azide‐alkyne cycloaddition

Recent work on non-conjugated pendant electroactive polymers (NCPEPs) has demonstrated significant impacts of structural parameters such as backbone stereoregularity and the spacer connecting to properties, most notably charge carrier mobilities. Tuning group however not been reported for stereoregular NCPEPs. Here we present a family novel isotactic poly((carbazolyl-alkyl-triazolyl)methyl methacrylates) (PCzATMMAs) which effects increasing from carbazole 3,6-bis(4-(2-ethylhexyl)thiophen-2-yl)-carbazole were investigated. Based unsuccessful post-polymerization functionalization with this extended via previously transesterification thiol-ene methodologies, report copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition was be highly effective. The effect length also investigated comparison established alkyl spacers. Within PCzATMMAs, hole mobilities found increase longer thermal annealing. incorporation an solubilizing chains result in lower mobility than equivalent polymer unfunctionalized group. Importantly, copper catalyzed proved effective method NCPEPs when extending beyond simple pendant.
